U.S. Highway 395 South - Reno to Minden

U.S. 395 runs from Interstate 15 near Victorville, California, north into Washington. It enters Nevada briefly near Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Reno-Sparks. Through much of this area, U.S. 395 is either multi-lane divided highway or freeway. The section of U.S. 395 freeway south of Interstate 80 is designated as the "hidden" Interstate 580.

Views of the future Interstate 580 & U.S. 395 freeway over Galena Creek west of the community of Pleasant Valley. Construction is underway involving the building of a high-level concrete arch bridge over the Galena Creek. The southbound span should be complete by August 2006 based upon the current time table. At that time crews can proceed on construction of the approach roadways and supporting infrastructure to connect the bridges and complete the new 6-lane freeway. Southbound U.S. 395 (Nevada 529) at Junction U.S. 50 (Nevada 530) in downtown Carson City. This marks the western terminus of Nevada 530, the future designation for U.S. 50 between downtown and the Carson City bypass. U.S. 50 otherwise continues east to Fallon with a connection to Virginia City. Beyond Fallon, U.S. 50 embarks on its journey as the nation's "Loneliest Road".
