U.S. Highway 395 North - Reno to California

U.S. 395 runs from Interstate 15 near Victorville, California, north into Washington. It enters Nevada briefly near Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Reno-Sparks. Through much of this area, U.S. 395 is either multi-lane divided highway or freeway. The section of U.S. 395 freeway south of Interstate 80 is designated as the "hidden" Interstate 580.

U.S. 395 North
U.S. 395 leaves Interstate 80 and 580 behind and approaches Oddie Boulevard (Nevada 663). Although closed at the time of this photograph, Exit 69 consists of a partial-cloverleaf interchange between the freeway and surface arterial. Nevada 663, unsigned from U.S. 395, comprises 2.481 miles of Oddie Boulevard between Sutro Street (former Nevada 666) and Nevada 445 (Pyramid Way). Photo taken 09/09/05.

U.S. 395 northbound quickly encounters the Exit 70A off-ramp for McCarran Boulevard after the Oddie Boulevard interchange. McCarran Boulevard constitutes a multi-lane divided belt route for the cities of Reno and Sparks. Exit 70B provides a direct connection to Clear Acre Lane northbound from within the McCarran Boulevard diamond interchange (Exit 70A). Parr Boulevard and Dandini Boulevard cross paths with U.S. 395 at the Exit 71 diamond interchange in north Reno. Parr Boulevard travels 1.1 miles west to U.S. 395 Business (Virginia Street). The southbound on-ramp to U.S. 395 Business (Virginia Street) is signed as simply "Panther Valley" from U.S. 395 northbound. Panther Valley entails the areas in and around Exit 72 in north Reno. Photo taken 09/09/05.
Golden Valley Road intersects U.S. 395 at the Exit 73 diamond interchange between Raleigh Heights and Golden Valley. Golden Valley Road ventures east from North Virginia Street (old U.S. 395) to 7th Street and Sun Valley. Photo taken 09/09/05.

Welcome back to California U.S. 395 northbound travelers. The welcome sign coincides with the Sierra County line sign. Hallelujah Junction and the California 70 eastern terminus lie 7.8 miles ahead.
