U.S. 395 runs from Interstate 15 near Victorville, California, north into Washington. It enters Nevada briefly near Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Reno-Sparks. Through much of this area, U.S. 395 is either multi-lane divided highway or freeway. The section of U.S. 395 freeway south of Interstate 80 is designated as the "hidden" Interstate 580.
U.S. 395 North

A set of mast-arm supported traffic lights govern the movements between U.S. 395 (Carson Street) and U.S. 50 in south Carson City. An undeveloped swath of land lies to the east of the junction awaiting construction of the Carson City Bypass (Interstate 580). Also tying into the Exit 42 diamond interchange is Nevada 429 (Old U.S. Highway 395) from the northwest. The original routing of U.S. 395 travels through Franktown to the west of the Washoe Lake Freeway.
