Reno-Sparks @ RockyMountainRoads

Nevada 32A milepost on Nevada 664, Oddie Boulevard, in Sparks. Photo taken by Mike Ballard in 8/99.
The famous Reno "Biggest Little City in the World" arch spans Virginia Street (Business U.S. 395/Nevada 430 southbound) just south of Interstate 80 near downtown. Photo taken by Jim Magin.
Northbound Nevada 430 and Business U.S. 395, Virginia Street, at Junction Interstate 80. This sign has since been replaced: the Interstate 80 now lists Sacramento as a destination city, and the Business U.S. 395 North designation has been replaced with North Virginia Street/University of Nevada/Planetarium. The University of Nevada at Reno is located just beyond this intersection, and the pedestrian bridge in the distance is related to this educational facility. The University of Nevada at Reno is one of two major educational institutions in Nevada, the other being the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Most signs that say "Business U.S. 395" have been removed. Photo taken by Mike Ballard in 8/99.
Southbound Business U.S. 395 and Nevada 430 (Virginia Street) signage at Junction Interstate 80 eastbound. This sign has since been replaced: the Interstate 80 sign now lists Sparks and Elko as destination cities, and the Business Loop U.S. 395 shield was removed in favor of South Virginia Street and Downtown Reno. Photo taken by Mike Ballard, 8/99.
Old wooden guardrail along Virginia Street (Business U.S. 395/Nevada 430) overcrossing at Interstate 80. This guardrail is reminiscent of that found on older bridges in California, where white painted, wooden guardrail was the standard in the first half of the 20th century. Photo taken by Mike Ballard, 8/99.
Eastbound Fourth Street about a mile or so west of downtown Reno. Photo taken 1/99.

Junction Nevada 443 to Sun Valley in Reno-Sparks. Photo taken by Mike Ballard, 8/99.
McCarran Boulevard
Nevada 650 (McCarran Boulevard) eastbound on the approach to junction Interstate 80. A partial-cloverleaf interchange joins the two highways in east Sparks. McCarran Boulevard features a dense commercial frontage in and near the freeway junction. Photo taken 09/09/05.
Business Loop Interstate 80 (Victorian Avenue) crosses paths with Nevada 650 (McCarran Boulevard) eastbound ahead of its on-ramps to Interstate 80. Victorian Avenue carries the business loop west to B Street and the city of Reno. Photo taken 09/09/05.
A rare sighting of 1972-MUTCD specification Interstate 80 Nevada shields. These signs direct motorists onto Interstate 80 west for downtown Sparks and Reno and eastbound to Salt Lake City ahead on the left. Photo taken 09/09/05.
A more modern Interstate 80 Nevada shield with 1979-MUTCD specifications represents the westbound freeway entrance sign. An older non-reflective overhead meanwhile directs motorists onto the Interstate 80 eastbound ramp to Truckee River Canyon. Nevada 650 ends here but McCarran Boulevard continues south to Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Photo taken 09/09/05.
The westbound beginning of Nevada 650 (McCarran Boulevard) occurs at the interchange with Interstate 80 in east Sparks. Pictured here is the freeway entrance shield posted for the westbound loop ramp toward downtown Sparks and Reno. Photo taken 09/09/05.
The first Nevada 650 mile post found at the Interstate 80 partial-cloverleaf interchange. Nevada 650 travels 6.30 miles from here to junction U.S. 395 in Reno. Photo taken 09/09/05.
The Interstate 80 westbound off-ramp (Exit 19) intersects Nevada 650 (McCarran Boulevard) westbound. Intersecting McCarran Boulevard from the west is Business Loop Interstate 80 (Victorian Avenue). Victorian Avenue parallels the freeway westward to the Sparks central business district and B Street in Reno. Photo taken 09/09/05.
Nevada 651 shield along McCarran Boulevard around Reno-Sparks. Nevada 650 and 651 split the state-maintained section of the McCarran Boulevard belt route around the metropolitan area. Photo taken 12/98.
