From the West Elko Interchange 298 to East Elko Interchange 303; former Nevada 1. Elko, which is the Elko County seat, is a bustling regional hub. The nearest city, Twin Falls, Idaho, is 173 miles north of Elko. Other cities -- Salt Lake City, Reno-Sparks, and Las Vegas -- are much further away. It was one of a handful of towns able to convince the railroad to relocate its mainline. The railroad was moved from between Commercial and Railroad Streets to near the Humboldt River. |

From Nevada 604 (Las Vegas Boulevard South) east to Nevada 582 (Boulder Highway). In 2002, a section of Nevada 562 was decommissioned, between Annie Oakley Drive and Gibson Road. As of June 2002, Nevada 562 exists in two parts: from Las Vegas Boulevard to Annie Oakley Drive and again from Gibson Road to Boulder Highway. The remainder of this route is likely to be decommissioned in 2003 and given to the city of Henderson. |

This is Lake Mead Drive from Interstate 515 to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area via Henderson. This route replaces what was formerly part of Nevada 146 along Lake Mead Drive. As of June 2002, Nevada 146 exists only from Interstate 215 west to Interstate 15 (Exit 27). |

From U.S. 95 Expressway east to Nevada 604 (Las Vegas Boulevard North). In 2002, Nevada 573 was decommissioned between Decatur Boulevard and Lossee Road. As of June 2002, Nevada 573 exists in two parts: between U.S. 95 and Decatur Boulevard, and again between Losee and Las Vegas Boulevard (Nevada 604). The remainder of this route will likely be remanded to the control of the city of North Las Vegas, in accordance with other decommissionings in the Las Vegas basin, thus resulting in the elimination of Nevada 573. |

From 0.1 mile west of Interstate 15 to Highland Drive within Las Vegas; multi-lane divided connector. Boundaries along Spring Mountain are from Highland Drive to Aldebaran Ave, mileage of 0.242 miles. Note that Highland intersects Spring Mountain in the form of a ramp, right under Interstate 15. Highland southbound merges with the westbound Spring Mtn off ramp from Interstate 15 north. Nevada 591 is not the Desert Inn Superarterial. Spring Mountain Road is an entirely separate road running parallel to Desert Inn, and it is located about 1/4-mile south of Desert Inn Superarterial. Only a short portion of Spring Mountain Road (the section closest to Interstate 15) is maintained by the state. Clark County, not NDOT, built the Wilbur Clark Desert Inn Superarterial in the mid-1990s as a way to avoid the freeway and Strip. The only ways on/off the Desert Inn Superarterial are access roads between Valley View and the Interstate 15 overpass, an eastbound exit to Highland Drive (and via the new Spring Mountain interchange and westbound Spring Mountain), and westbound access to Channel 8 Drive. Thanks go to Nick Christensen and L.J. Johnson for clarifying the difference between the two. |

From Nevada 595 (Rainbow Boulevard) easterly to Nevada 582 (Boulder Highway). Nevada 592 is a candidate to be decommissioned and given to local control, but that has not happened as of June 2002. The western portion was resurfaced by the state in 2001-2002, and the eastern portion will be resurfaced by 2003. After that work is completed, it is likely that this route will be returned to local control in accordance with other decommissionings in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. |

Nevada 593 goes from Industrial Road to Boulder Highway for a distance of 7.492 miles. In 1996, this route was from Nevada 595 (Rainbow Boulevard) easterly to Nevada 582 (Boulder Highway). In 2002, Nevada 593 was curtailed further. The section between Interstate 15 and Paradise Road was decommissioned as of June 2002. It is likely that the remaining state portions of Tropicana Avenue will be given to Clark County in 2003, thus resulting in the decommissioning of Nevada 593.

From Nevada 593/Tropicana Boulevard to Smoke Ranch Road. In 1996, this route was defined to extend from Nevada 593 (Tropicana Boulevard) north to Nevada 599 (Rancho Road). In 2002, Nevada 596 was decommissioned between Sahara and Charleston. As of June 2002, Nevada 596 exists between Tropicana and Sahara, and again between Charleston and Smoke Ranch. It is likely that the remainder of this route will be given to Clark County. |

From Nevada 589 (West Sahara Avenue) northwest to U.S. 95; former Nevada 5. This route lost mileage between 1996 and 2000. It is cosigned with Business U.S. 95 throughout. This route is on the short list of routes to be decommissioned in its entirety and remanded to the city of Las Vegas; this would result in the elimination of Nevada 599, and the business route would probably be removed as well. |
