Today, this route is the only direct connection between these two areas. An improved Nevada 146 provides an expressway connection (with a few traffic lights) between Gibson Road and the Interstate 515/U.S. 95/U.S. 93 interchange at Lake Mead Drive. Much progress has been made recently on this route. In 1996, this definition of Interstate 215 read, "From Interstate 15 east to end of project near Nevada 146 (Lake Mead Drive); under construction to extend east to connect to Interstate 515, with opening in 2000." Note that Clark County Route 215, which extendds west from the Interstate 15 interchange, is not included as either an Interstate or a state highway at this time.
