{"id":5836,"date":"2024-11-07T18:59:15","date_gmt":"2024-11-07T18:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.visitgrandcounty.com\/?post_type=press_releases&#038;p=5836"},"modified":"2024-11-07T19:02:18","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T19:02:18","slug":"granby-ace-hardware-partners-with-headwaters-water-rescue-authority-for-november-fundraiser-events","status":"publish","type":"press_releases","link":"https:\/\/www.visitgrandcounty.com\/press-releases\/granby-ace-hardware-partners-with-headwaters-water-rescue-authority-for-november-fundraiser-events\/","title":{"rendered":"GRANBY ACE HARDWARE PARTNERS WITH HEADWATERS WATER RESCUE AUTHORITY FOR NOVEMBER FUNDRAISER EVENTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">FOR IMMEDIATE <span class=\"s2\">RELEASE<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">November 4, <span class=\"s1\">2024<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">GRANBY ACE HARDWARE PARTNERS WITH HEADWATERS WATER RESCUE AUTHORITY FOR NOVEMBER FUNDRAISER EVENTS<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">GRAND COUNTY, CO \u2013 In excitement and enthusiasm, Headwaters Water Rescue Authority (HWRA) is pleased to announce several fundraising opportunities at Granby Ace Hardware throughout the month of November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s5\">HWRA was formed in 2021 as an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) to establish a county-wide, multi- <\/span>agency water rescue authority to respond to water rescue emergencies throughout Grand County, and if <span class=\"s3\">requested,<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">as<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">mutual<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">aid<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">to<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">other<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">jurisdictions.<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">The<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">HWRA is<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">thankful<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">for<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">the<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">support<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">of Granby Ace Hardware<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">and<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">the<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">community<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">to<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">help<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">raise<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">funds<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">to purchase<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">a<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">new<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">rescue<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">boat.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li6\"><b>Round<\/b><b> <\/b><b>up<\/b><b> <\/b><b>at the Register <\/b>throughout the month of November to support <span class=\"s1\">HWRA.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li7\"><b>Milwaukee<\/b><b> <\/b><b>Days<\/b><b> <\/b><b>Hot<\/b><b> <\/b><b>Dogger<\/b><b> <\/b><b>Day:<\/b><b> <\/b>Saturday, November 9th from 11 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m. HWRA <span class=\"s1\">volunteers<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">will<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">be<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">grilling<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">up<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">hot<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">dogs<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">with<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">all<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">donations<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">going<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">to<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">HWRA.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li8\"><b>16th<\/b><b> <\/b><b>Annual Ladies<\/b><b> <\/b><b>Night: <\/b>Thursday, November 14th from 6 \u2013 9 p.m. Every $10 donation at the <span class=\"s2\">entrance<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">door<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">will<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">be<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">donated<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">to<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">HWRA.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p9\">Nine years ago, on July 3, 2015, a tragedy unexpectedly hit a beloved local family. Dee and Rick Mullinex <span class=\"s3\">would<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">come<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">to<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">learn<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">that<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">their<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">adult<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">son,<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Christopher<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Eugene,<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">drowned<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">after<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">jumping<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">into<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Lake<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Granby at a<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">depth<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">of<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">what<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">would<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">have appeared<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">to be safe at<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">40<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">\u2013<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">50 feet<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">during<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">a seemingly normal<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">fun<\/span>summer afternoon. Chris\u2019s body was not discovered and recovered until after three days of <span class=\"s2\">searching <\/span>and waiting for available out-of-county <span class=\"s2\">resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s3\">The<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">devastation<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">of<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">losing<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">her<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">son<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">to<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">drowning<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">compounded<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">with<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">the<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">anguish<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">of<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">waiting<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">for<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">his<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">body<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">to <\/span><span class=\"s5\">be recovered and<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">brought<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">home to be<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">buried, ignited<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">a deep passion in<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">Dee<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">Mullinex to ensure that<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">no <\/span><span class=\"s3\">family<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">ever<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">experiences<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">that<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">again<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">in<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Grand<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">County.<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">From<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">this<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">tragic<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">event,<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">the<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Christopher<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Mullinex Water<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Rescue<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Fund<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">was<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">created.<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">The<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">primary<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">mission<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">is<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">to<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">provide<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">funds<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">for<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">equipment,<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">training<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">and <\/span><span class=\"s5\">public education regarding water safety so that every person that enjoys Grand County\u2019s lakes comes <\/span><span class=\"s1\">home<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">safely.<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">Dee<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">Mullinex<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">was<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">an<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">integral<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">part<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">of<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">the<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">driving<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">force<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">behind<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">the<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">eventual<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">formation<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">of <\/span><span class=\"s5\">HWRA and continues to be a supportive arm through the Christopher Mullinex Water Rescue Fund.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s3\">Sheriff Brett Schroetlin shared, \u201cThe addition<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">of a new<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">rescue<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">boat<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">through the Headwaters Water <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Rescue Authority would allow our first responders to respond to emergencies in our bodies of water <\/span><span class=\"s1\">with<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">the<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">same<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">care<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">and<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">compassion<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">that<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">we<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">would<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">for<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">any<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">other<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">type<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">of<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">emergency.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p9\">Granby Ace Hardware is open Monday \u2013 Saturday from 7 a.m. \u2013 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. \u2013 <span class=\"s6\">5 <\/span>p.m. The store is located at 627 W.
