Interstate 25 Northbound
Interstate 25 begins via a stretched trumpet interchange southeast of the New Mexico State University campus. The first three interchanges of the freeway serve the city. Photo taken 01/14/06.
Interstate 25's first north reassurance marker and companion milepost zero. Both are posted near the Cholla Road underpass. Photo taken 01/14/06.
Exit 1 joins Interstate 25 with University Avenue east of New Mexico State. University Avenue, formerly New Mexico 101 travels west from the diamond interchange and NMSU Golf Course through the University Park community of Las Cruces. Photo taken 01/14/06.
New Mexico State University occupies a wedge of land sandwiched between Interstate 25 to the east and Interstate 10 to the southwest. University Avenue provides direct access to the campus from both freeways. Photo taken 01/14/06.
In addition to serving the college, Exit 1 provides access to the NMSU Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum. The museum lies east of Interstate 25 via Dripping Springs Road. Dripping Springs Road meanders eastward to far reaching subdivisions. Photo taken 01/14/06.
Northbound Interstate 25 at the Exit 1 ramp departure to University Avenue. New Mexico 101 used to follow University Avenue west from Exit 1 to junction New Mexico 478 (former U.S. 80-85) near Exit 142 of Interstate 10. Photo taken 01/14/06.
Next in line for northbound travelers is the Exit 3 diamond interchange with Lohman Avenue (New Mexico 342). New Mexico 342 begins at Exit 3 and travels west four miles to New Mexico 292 (Motel Boulevard) west of town. Photo taken 01/14/06.

The second Interstate 25 shield features the state name and resides near the Missouri Avenue underpass. Photo taken 01/14/06.
Lohman Avenue (New Mexico 342) constitutes a multi-lane divided highway and interchanges with Interstate 25 in a commercial area anchored by Mesilla Valley Mall. The state highway is vastly unsigned along Lohman Avenue. Photo taken 01/14/06.
Exit 3 partitions with Interstate 25 northbound for Lohman Avenue. Lohman Avenue east spurs to Roadrunner Parkway and Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Westbound the arterial continues toward downtown, splitting into the one-way street couplet of Amador Avenue (west) and Lohman Avenue (east) along the way. Photo taken 01/14/06.
A second sign directs motorists to Lohman Avenue (New Mexico 342). The New Mexico 342 overpass features a decorative paint job reflective of the local area culture. Photos taken 01/14/06.

1.50 miles south of junction U.S. 70 (Exit 6) on Interstate 25 north. This mileage sign is the first to feature the distances to Albuquerque, New Mexico's largest city, and Santa Fe, the state's capital. Photo taken 01/14/06.
Hot air balloons are a common sight in the skies of New Mexico. In fact the balloons are featured on the newest state license plate design. Photo taken 01/14/06.
A pair of diagrammatical overheads advise motorists of the forthcoming directional-cloverleaf interchange with U.S. 70 (Exit 6). U.S. 70 constitutes a full freeway leading east to San Augustin Pass from Las Cruces. Photo taken 01/14/06.
U.S. 70 west follows Main Street southwest from Exit 6 into downtown Las Cruces and Picacho Avenue (former U.S. 80). U.S. 85 used to share pavement with U.S. 70 leading north. Additionally U.S. 82 once followed U.S. 70 west from Alamogordo to U.S. 80 in Las Cruces. Both routings were removed from U.S. 70 around 1990.1 Photo taken 01/14/06.
Heading east into the desert, U.S. 70 provides a direct route to White Sands National Monument, White Sands Missile Range, and the New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo. Photo taken 01/14/06.
Once Interstate 25 north reaches Exit 6, signs reveal the slip ramp connector from U.S. 70 east to Del Rey Boulevard. Del Rey Boulevard stems north from Telshor Boulevard/Northrise Drive nearby through growing suburbs to Exit 9 of Interstate 25. Connections to Del Rey are made by the U.S. 70 freeway frontage road (North Main Street). Photo taken 01/14/06.
Traveling the Exit 6 off-ramp, departing first is the Del Rey Boulevard ramp to North Main Street. Many slip ramps exist between the freeway mainline and adjoining frontage road for the various cross streets that lie ahead. Photo taken 01/14/06.
A high speed ramp facilitates the movements onto U.S. 70 (Bataan Memorial Highway) east to Organ and Alamogordo. Drivers bound for U.S. 70 (Main Street) west must turn left at a traffic light. Photo taken 01/14/06.
