Eastbound Business Loop I-80
Eastbound Business Loop I-80 and Business U.S. 30 at Junction Wyoming 215 in Pine Bluffs. Wyoming 215 leads north over the railroad tracks toward Albin, and it connects to Wyoming 216 and ultimately Wyoming 151. Photo taken 09/05/05.
Several gas stations, service stations, restaurants, and other motorist services are available along northbound Parson Street (which functions as eastbound Business Loop I-80 and U.S. 30). The next major intersection is Old U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway). The old route becomes a service road to Interstate 80 to the west of here. The service road connects to Laramie County Route 161 south, but it does not connect to other sections of service road near Burns or Cheyenne. Photo taken 09/05/05.
Turn left to Old Lincoln Highway (Old U.S. 30) west to the Pine Bluffs Airport and Laramie County Route 161; turn right to follow the business route into Nebraska. Photo taken 09/05/05.
This is the first set of reassurance shields for Business Loop I-80 and U.S. 30 eastbound in Wyoming. After passing another dozen or so blocks, the Lincoln Highway departs Wyoming and enters Nebraska. Photo taken 09/05/05.
Westbound Business Loop I-80 and U.S. 30
At the top of the ramp from Interstate 80 Exit 1 in Nebraska, Business Loop I-80 begins here at the southern end of Nebraska Link 53B. The signage at the top of this ramp is different from that typically seen in Wyoming, including the size and layout of the business loop shield and the list of services. Note the use of the "TO" banner above the U.S. 30 shield, which implies that one must take the link route to reach U.S. 30. However, signage on Eastbound Interstate 80 at Exit 1 clearly says "U.S. 30," so the link definition is superfluous. The section of U.S. 30 west of Nebraska Link 53B is Business U.S. 30. There is some logic behind this. In Nebraska, U.S. 30 survives as an extant route for almost its entirety, and it does not merge with Interstate 80 at any point in the Cornhusker State except from Exit 1 west to the Wyoming-Nebraska State Line. This is contrary to Wyoming's practice, which is to route the U.S. route onto the Interstate whenever feasible and practical. Hence why the signage of U.S. 30 (specifically the use of the "TO" banner) is a bit different in Nebraska as compared to Wyoming. Photo taken 09/05/05.
This is the first and only reassurance shield along northbound Nebraska Link 53B. The business route is not signed here, but it is signed at the upcoming intersection with U.S. 30, which is visible in the background. Business Loop I-80 turns west onto U.S. 30, and it crosses into the Equality State of Wyoming shortly after merging onto the old Lincoln Highway. Photo taken 09/05/05.
Now in Wyoming, westbound Business Loop I-80 and U.S. 30 enters the town of Pine Bluffs. While the Old Lincoln Highway continues straight ahead (passing under the Wyoming 215 viaduct and continuing west as a service road), the business loop and U.S. 30 turn south on Parson Street to return to Interstate 80. Photo taken 09/05/05.
Even in the late afternoon light, the trailblazer shields indicate a left turn onto Parson Street to downtown Pine Bluffs as well as a connection to Wyoming 215 (Pine Bluffs-Albin Road). Photo taken 09/05/05.
Several gas stations, service stations, restaurants, and other motorist services are available along Parson Street (westbound Business Loop I-80 and U.S. 30). The next major intersection is Junction Wyoming 215 (8th Street), three blocks north of this junction sign. Use Wyoming 215 north to Albin. Photo taken 09/05/05.
The business loop meets Wyoming 215 at this short connecting ramp. The junction with Interstate 80 is visible just ahead. Photo taken 09/05/05.
Immediately thereafter, westbound Business Loop I-80 and Business U.S. 30 reach their junction with Interstate 80 and U.S. 30 in Pine Bluffs near the Wyoming Welcome Center. Continue straight ahead under the Interstate to connect to the tourist information center. To Cheyenne, follow Interstate 80 and U.S. 30 west; to Sydney, Ogallala, North Platte, Lincoln, and Omaha, follow Interstate 80 east. Photo taken 09/05/05.
